Player Ratings: Leeds United 0-3 Manchester United

Man Utd. Man Utd.

Ben Amos 6.0
Rarely tested by a lackluster Leeds front line, he was beaten in the opening minutes from a corner but his defenders rescued him with goal line clearances however following that all the shots he had to deal with were from long range and he gathered them comfortably.

Fabio Da Silva 7.0
The full back worked hard to keep Snodgrass quiet and looked very dangerous going forward when he was needed to. He supported Macheda well and gave the Italian plenty of options on the overlap.

Ezekiel Fryers 6.5
The 19-year-old Manchester born defender had a solid game at centre half and looked very comfortable on the ball. He was not afraid to bring the ball out of defence and looked to play short passes rather than a long ball up to Berbatov. He showed good pace to keep up with McCormack and Becchio and grew in confidence as the game went on.

Antonio Valencia 6.5
In a full back role that we have seen him occupy occasionally in recent times he looked comfortable against Andy Keogh and his attacking nature helped support Diouf on forays down the right side.

Michael Carrick 6.5
He may not be a centre half but he coped very well alongside the youngster Fryers, there were times when he was beaten by Becchio but he showed his experience to recover and clear any danger. His abilities on the ball helped Amos as he constantly took the ball off his goalkeeper and began United attacking moves.

Ji-Sung Park 7.0
Again not a natural central midfielder but it didn’t show as he worked brilliantly alongside Giggs. He was full of energy, collecting passes beyond his strikers and knitting play together nicely. He made a fantastic run for the opening goal and showed good vision to find Owen to open the scoring.

Ryan Giggs 8.0
The experienced midfielder looked at ease in the centre of midfield directing the play. He always kept possession, played neat passes to keep the momentum going and delivered dangerous passes into his strikers. He scored the third goal on the stroke of half time before being replaced at the break by Pogba.

Mame Biram Diouf 6.5
Although wide right is not his normal position Diouf worked hard and stuck to his task well and will have impressed Sir Alex Ferguson. He looked to take on Aidan White whenever he could and created Owen’s second goal with excellent vision.

Michael Owen 7.0

Two goals for the striker in his first start this season, not a bad return at all. His first was scrappy as he scuffed the ball past Lonergan but his second was pure class as he thumped the ball past the keeper from the edge of the area.

Dimitar Berbatov 7.0
He didn’t get his name on the scoresheet but his overall play was excellent as he dropped slightly off Owen to provide a link between midfield and attack. His vision to create the second goal was excellent.

Federico Macheda 5.5
The Italian was lining up in an unusual left wing role and he struggled to get into the game and make an impact. His passing was sloppy and he was unable to take on Tom Lees and create anything for United’s forwards.

• Substitutions

Paul Pogba 6.5
Replaced Giggs at half time and looked solid in the centre of midfield, he was strong in the tackle and used his height to dominate Howson.

Larnell Cole 6.5
Replaced Macheda with 12 minutes to go and looked lively down the left, showing lots of pace to worry the Leeds defence.

Danny Welbeck 6.0
Replaced Diouf so he could get some game time following his recent injury.
